The Armor Karma Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Boston, Massachusetts whose mission is to provide recognition and grants to Massachusetts high school students with kindred spirits. Inspired by the book The Go Giver , the Foundation seeks to teach high school students that focusing on helping others leads to far greater personal fulfillment and success than selfishness and self-absorption.
Each year, the Foundation sends The Go-Giver to certain high school teachers throughout Massachusetts. After reading this short book, teachers then nominate students who embody the spirit of The Go-Giver through a brief application process. A selection committee evaluates each of these applications and selects students with the most kindred spirits. The Foundation recognizes each of these winning students at a ceremony at the winner’s high school and copies of The Go Giver are distributed to all of the winner’s peers. In addition, the chosen students are invited to attend a special dinner where the Armor Karma Foundation will recognize them.
The Armor Karma Foundation started in January 2012 when like-minded professionals gathered for a unique lunch in Boston’s Back Bay to meet and discuss the book The Go Giver. These professionals had embraced this book in their personal and professional lives and sought to meet others with a similar commitment. One of the attendees at this lunch had recently witnessed self-absorption and entitlement during several encounters with others. After significant reflection, he realized that the most effective way to spread the mission of The Go Giver was to instill this kindred spirit in high school students.
Thank you for your interest in the Armor Karma Foundation. The Foundation needs donations from benefactors to support its laudable goals. All donations are greatly appreciated and tax-deductible since the Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. In addition, 100% of donations will be used to benefit the Foundation’s mission. Donors will also receive a copy of The Go Giver so supporters can better understand the Foundation’s philosophy and inspiration.
The founder of the Armor Karma Foundation, Douglas F. MacLean, will also be running The Boston Marathon on April 16, 2012 to raise money for the Foundation. Since this marathon is his 40th marathon and he recently turned 40 years old, he wanted to raise money for a charitable organization that he truly believes in, particularly since The Go-Giver has had a profound effect on his life, personally and professionally.
